Events

The Petero Civoniveva Foundation has delivered several high-profile events since our inception. The Dash for Diabetes event was created, in consultation with the Ministry of Health, to promote physical activity, raise awareness of Type II Diabetes and provide an activity for the whole family to participate.

More than 2,500 participants have attended our Dash for Diabetes 5km and the events have raised more than $5,000 for Diabetes Fiji to support the treatment of patients with Type II Diabetes.

The Dash for Diabetes is promoted on national television and radio and a six-week awareness campaign in the national newspapers. The event has attracted participants from as far away as the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia.

The Foundation engages with the Fiji Sports Commission to offer participants at the event the opportunity to take part in sports clinics. The aim is to signpost participants to join a local sports club.

The Ministry of Health provide free fruit and Fiji Water donate bottles of water to each participant. Nestle provided breakfast and coconuts are also offered free of charge to participants. Entertainment is provided by local dance and music groups and participants are provided with a Zumba warm up.

In 2020 we were able to donate 3000 insulin needles to Lautoka Wellness Hub for individuals with Type I Diabetes.
